Windows 10 has been working fine on my PC for several months but a few days ago my Ethernet connection failed with the appearance of a yellow triangle on the icon in the tray.
I ran the troubleshooter in network diagnostics and received a result of problem found: “Local area connection 3 doesn’t have a valid IP configuration. Not fixed”. See attached screen-shot.
I checked both ends of the cable and both had green LEDs illuminated on the router computer and is noted as working correctly in the Device Manager properties box ‘general’ tab. I updated the driver and it appears correctly in the ‘driver’ tab of the properties box. However, in the ‘advanced’ tab the Network Address is shown as not present. Screen-shots attached
I also cut and pasted the following screen but am now not sure from where:
Name: Local Area Connection 3
Description: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Physical address (MAC): bc:ae:c5:8a:da:f3 Status: Operational Maximum transmission unit: 1500 IPv4 address: 169.254.168.195/16 Connectivity (IPv4/IPv6): Connected to unknown network, no traffic Name: Ethernet Description: TomTom Physical address (MAC): 5e:4c:39:0a:8c:3c Status: Not Present Maximum transmission unit: 0 Connectivity (IPv4/IPv6): Disconnected
I have read through many of the other questions posed by members concerning considerable problems with this Ethernet controller but not exactly similar to mine. I, therefore, open a separate question. Any advice and suggestions would be gratefully received.
Regards.
